Technical Engineer (Blasting)

The role will work closely with Mine Planning Engineers, to provide high quality blasting plans in accordance with the Mine Plan. The role will also work closely with the operations team, to ensure quality and delivery of the blast plan. As a member of the Technical team, the position will provide blasting specific input within the frameworks of mining regulations, health, safety and environmental policies and regulations.The position is a site-based role and is expected to work on a Monday to Friday basis. Some roster flexibility may be possible for the right candidate.  Ideally you will live (or be prepared to live) locally within the lower Bowen Basin region of Qld. Relocation and/or housing expense assistance may be possible.Key accountabilities include:Providing blasting engineering services, which will include drill pattern design and tie-in/charge design from Client supplied Blast Shells;Liaising with key stakeholders to efficiently schedule the blasting requirements and minimize interruption of other mining operations;Liaising with the client’s technical team to develop and implement procedures that optimize the drill and blast process;Selecting and consulting on appropriate blasting products for use in different conditions;Analysing blasting performance;Assisting with investigations where required;Assessing the quality of explosive products;Resolving drill and blast technical issues;Preparing, monitoring, and reporting on production data associated with blasting activities;Reviewing and determining areas of further improvement;Inspecting drill and blast areas periodically; andConsulting with and developing close working relationships with client based engineers, production team and Platinum’s operations team.To be successful in the role you will be degree qualified in mining engineering, and have experience in mine planning/blasting software and designing blast plans. You will be self-motivated, flexible and have strong team collaboration skills.
